An intimate corporate dinner for Pontera in Chelsea called for a detail that felt both elevated and effortless: custom hot-foiled luggage tags, created live during the event.

Guests gathered for an evening of conversation and guest speakers while another calligrapher and I worked in the background, personalizing a set of two luggage tags per guest in gold foil. By completing the work during speaking breaks, we avoided lines entirely—guests were free to mingle and enjoy their dinner, and their finished tags were waiting for them at the customization table, beautifully packaged in organza bags.

Preparation played a key role in making the experience seamless. In testing beforehand, I found that using tape to secure the foil left marks on these particular tags. Switching to binder clips preserved the material and ensured a clean result—an important reminder that small details, handled in advance, make all the difference during a live event.

The gifts were both practical and personal. One guest shared they’d be perfect for his upcoming honeymoon with his fiancée. The activation allowed everyone to stay exactly where they wanted to be: present, engaged, and enjoying the evening.
